Jakarta, 12 November 2021- Today, Raisa released a new single titled Someday in collaboration with South Korean singer Sam Kim, as well as musician and arranger Jukjae, as part of her Journey to her fourth album It's Personal.
Sam Kim is well-known for his major music hits in popular Korean dramas, such as Who Are You in The Guardian: The Lonely and Great God and Love Me Like That in Nevertheless.
It was Raisa's wish to have a cross Asian collaborator that began the project for Someday. The first encounter of Raisa and Sam Kim started on Instagram DM, where they swapped music references until they managed to hold an online workshop.
The song making-process started in early 2021, where both Raisa and Sam Kim worked independently from Jakarta and Seoul, with their own schedules. The song-making process began to heat up in the middle of the year.
"Raisa and I spent a lot of time planning everything through calls, chats, or video calls. Despite the fact that we're living in two different places, we're lucky to have a real-time recording and discuss anything right away. Shoutout to Raisa and her amazing voice for this song," Said the singer who was born on February 19th, 1998.
“I had a great time working with Sam Kim. I never thought our casual conversation could turn into a music collaboration. We both have the same vision for this song, as we both believe it will help us to get to know both Korean and Indonesian fans" Raisa Andriana stated.
Someday tells the story of a couple that both have a big ego, making it difficult for them to reveal their true feelings to each other. This song that Jukjae helped work on, drew so me slow R&B references. The song's mood that is sweet yet melancholic gives a Korean drama soundtrack vibe. Jukjae was also the one who was involved in making Sam Kim’s first album Sun and Moon (2018).
“Kickstarted by Raisa’s idea, we began to communicate this project with Antenna as Sam Kim’s label and agency. This is not our first time working with a South Korean agency. On a previous project, JUNI Records, as the initiator, succeeded in holding a concert for Hyukon in Jakarta. Now we’re continuing this effort to lead a cross-country project by inviting Sam Kim to," said Adryanto Pratono, CEO of JUNI Records.
Someday will be a breakthrough for both JUNI and Raisa this year. He sees this song as a bridge between Raisa's fans and fans of Sam Kim's Korean drama soundtrack.
“It’s a good chance for JUNI to have possible collaboration with today's generation of Korean Wave musicians. Raisa and JUNI are hoping that this is only the beginning of more future collaboration. It has always been our dream to work collaboratively with a lot more collaborators from the international music industry.” said Adryanto Pratono.
The song Someday is now available on all digital streaming platforms starting today (12/11). The release will be followed by a music video that was made in two countries and premiered on Raisa's YouTube channel (Raisa6690) on the same day at 17:00 WIB
